Matar Paneer is a gravy dish prepared with green peas and paneer (Indian cottage cheese), the combination is enticing. It can be enjoyed with a phulka, paratha or rice.

Ingredients:
- Paneer (Indian cottage cheese) – 200 grams (cut into cubes)
- Boiled Green Peas – 1/2 cup
- Onion – 1 medium (roughly chopped)
- Tomato – 2 large (roughly chopped)
- Green Chilli – 2 (roughly chopped)
- Garlic – 2 cloves (roughly chopped)
- Ginger – 1/2 inch (julienned)
- Cashew – 5
- Black Cardamom – 1
- Bay Leaf – 1
- Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Kasuri Methi – 1 tsp
- Cream – 2 tbsp
- Coriander Leaves for garnishing
- Water – 1 cup
- Oil – 3 tbsp
- Salt to taste.
PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML.
How to make Matar Paneer:
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan or a kadai. Add onions and garlic, saute until tender
- Add tomatoes, green chillies and cashews. Saute until soft, turn off the flame and let it cool down. Add it to a grinding jar and blend to a smooth paste, keep aside
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan or a kadai. Add black cardamom and bay leaf, saute until fragrant
- Add cumin seeds and let it splutter
- Add the paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder. Cook until oil separates
- Add boiled green peas and julienned ginger. Mix and add water, bring it to boil
- Add crushed kasuri methi, paneer, garam masala powder and salt. Mix and cook for 3-4 mins on medium flame
- Garnish with some coriander leaves and your Matar Paneer is ready. Serve hot with your favorite bread or rice.
