Oats Cheela | Oats Savoury Pancakes

Oats Cheela is a perfect breakfast recipe. It is loaded with all the goodness to kick-start your day. It can also be enjoyed in lunch, dinner or even as a snack.

You’ll need ground oats, gram flour, onions, tomatoes, green chillies, paneer (Indian cottage cheese), sweet corn and a few spices. You can also add veggies of your choice like finely chopped beans, capsicum or grated carrots, broccoli, etc. Make your oats cheelas as you like.

Servings: makes around 7-8 cheelas

Ingredients:

  1. Ground Rolled Oats – 1 cup
  2. Besan (Gram Flour) – 1/4 cup
  3. Onion – 1/3 cup (finely chopped)
  4. Tomato – 1/2 cup (seeded and finely chopped)
  5. Sweet Corn – 1/2 cup (boiled)
  6. Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese) – 1/2 cup (grated)
  7. Green Chilli – 2 (finely chopped)
  8. Ginger – 1/2 inch (grated)
  9. Coriander Leaves – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  10. Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  11. Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  12. Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
  13. Garam Masala Powder – 1/4 tsp
  14. Water – 1.5 cups
  15. Oil to cook the cheelas
  16. Salt to taste.

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML.

How to make Oats Cheela:

  1. Take a mixing bowl and add ground oats, gram flour & 1 cup water. Mix until smooth
  2. Add onions, tomatoes, sweet corn, paneer, green chilli, grated ginger, coriander leaves, coriander powder, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, garam masala powder, salt and 1/2 cup water. Mix until smooth, let it rest for 15 mins
  3. Heat a non stick pan or tawa and spread a few drops of oil, pour a ladle full of batter in the centre and spread out to form a circle 
  4. Cook till the cheela turns golden, pour a few drops of oil and flip. Similarly do the other side and your Oats Cheela is ready.
