Enjoy these classic, crispy and healthy falafels with hummus or in a salad.

Time: Preparation – 20 mins, Air Frying – 15 mins, Total – 35 mins.
Servings: makes 12-15 medium size falafels
Ingredients:
- Chickpea – 1 cup (soak over night or for 8 hours, it will be 3 cups once soaked)
- Onion – 1 small-medium (roughly chopped)
- Garlic – 4 cloves
- Coriander Leaves – 1 cup (roughly chopped)
- Green Chilli – 2
- Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
- Ground Black Pepper – 1/2 tsp
- Gram Flour – 1/4 cup
- Baking Soda – 1/2 tsp
- Sesame Seeds to sprinkle on top
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying.
PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML.
- Thoroughly rinse soaked chickpeas, drain access water and keep aside
- Take a food processor and add soaked chickpeas along with onion, garlic, coriander leaves and green chilli. Blend to make a slightly coarse mix
- Transfer it to a mixing bowl. Add cumin powder, ground pepper, gram flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well
- Make medium size balls from the mixture, sprinkle some sesame seeds on top and keep aside
- Choose from the following to cook the falafels, I have used the air frying method
- Air Fry – Place the falafel in the basket of the air fryer and brush them with some oil. Cook on 400 F for 12-15 mins or until golden and crisp
- Deep fry – Heat oil in a deep vessel and deep fry the kebabs until golden brown
- Your Falafels are ready. Relish with some hummus and enjoy!
