It’s time to bake an orange cake!!! Sharing the recipe for upside down orange cake, it’ll need a handful of ingredients to prepare this flavourful and delicious cake.
Tip: You can peel the oranges before slicing if you don’t like the bitterness in the cake.

Servings: makes one 9 inch round cake.
Ingredients:
- All-Purpose Flour – 1 3/4 cups
- Orange – 3 large (zest one of them, it’ll be around 1 tbsp)
- Butter – 2 tbsp (melted)
- Cane Sugar – 1 cup
- Brown Sugar – 3 tbsp
- Milk – 1 cup
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil – 1/3 cup
- Vanilla Extract – 2 tsp
- Baking Powder – 2 tsp
- White Vinegar – 1 tbsp
- Cinnamon Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – 1/4 tsp.
PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML.
How to make Upside Down Orange Cake:
- Pre-heat oven to 350 F
- Slice oranges into 1/4 inch slices, you can also peel the oranges before slicing
- Spread melted butter at the bottom of a 9 inch cake pan. Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar evenly over the butter. Now arrange the orange slices overlapping in a circular pattern covering the whole pan, keep aside
- In a mixing bowl add all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk and keep aside
- In another mixing bowl add milk, oil, orange zest, vanilla extract and vinegar. Mix until combined well
- Add wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until combined. No flour should be visible
- Pour the batter over the oranges in the cake pan and gently spread it evenly using a spatula
- Bake for 35-40 mins or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, it will be golden in color
- Let the cake cool down in the pan for 5-10 mins. You can even loosen up the edges with a butter knife if needed
- Now invert the cake on a serving plate to cool down. If some oranges slices stick to the pan, transfer them back on top of the cake
- Your Upside Down Orange Cake is ready. You can serve it warm as well. Enjoy!!!
