How to make Gur Makhana:
- Heat a pan and add makhana. Dry roast on low-medium flame for about 10 mins, until crunchy and snaps easily. Remove from the pan and keep aside
- In the same pan add sesame seeds and dry roast for about 3-4 mins stirring continuously. Remove from the pan and keep aside
- In the same pan add jaggery and water. Mix and stir on low flame until jaggery melts completely. Keep cooking on low flame until it comes to a boil, then cook for about 5 mins while stirring continuously. Syrup will slightly thicken
- Check the consistency at this stage. Drop a few drops of syrup in a bowl of cold water, after a few secs remove it from the water and check if it has become brittle else boil for another min then check again. Repeat if necessary
- Once syrup is ready, remove it from the flame and add roasted sesame seeds, cardamom powder and ghee. Mix well
- Now add roasted makhana. Quickly mix to coat them nicely in the syrup
-
Transfer it to a plate and let it cool down. Now break it apart with your hands into individual bites
- Your Gur Makhana is ready, store in an air-tight container and enjoy!
