Dhokla is a popular snack all across India, which is super quick and easy to prepare.

Servings: 3-4


  1. Gram Flour – 1 cup
  2. Semolina – 1 tbsp
  3. Curd – 1/4 cup
  4. Lemon Juice – 1.5 tsp
  5. Eno Fruit Salt – 1 tsp 
  6. Ginger-Green Chili Paste – 1 tsp
  7. Green Chilli – 4 (slit lengthwise)
  8. Black Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  9. Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  10. Sugar – 1 tbsp
  11. Coriander Leaves – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  12. Water – 1 1/4 cup
  13. Oil – 2 tbsp
  14. Salt to taste.

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML

  1. Grease the pan with a few drops of oil, in which you’ll steam the dhokla and keep aside
  2. Heat the steamer or the vessel to steam the dhokla
  3. Take a mixing bowl and add gram flour, semolina, ginger-green chili paste, curd & lemon juice. Mix
  4. Add 3/4 cup water and salt. Mix  well and there should be no lumps
  5. Now add eno fruit salt and whisk it in one direction for a few seconds, you’ll notice the size will almost double
  6. Immediately pour it into the pan, and place it in the steamer or the vessel you’re using for steaming. Steam for about 12 mins. Check by inserting a knife, if it comes out clean then it’s cooked else cook for another 2 mins
  7. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and it splutter
  8. Add cumin seeds and green chillies. Saute for a few seconds
  9. Add 1/2 cup water and sugar, bring it to boil. Turn off the flame and pour it evenly over the dhokla
  10. Cut dhokla into desired shape and your Dhokla is ready. Garnish with some coriander leaves and serve.
