Bharwan Bhindi/Stuffed Okra

One more speciality of Bhindi or Okra. Filled with spices and awesome in taste.

  1. Bhindi (Okra) – 250 grams
  2. Coriander powder – 2 tsp
  3. Red Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  4. Garam Masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  5. Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  6. Dry Mango powder (amchur) – 1/2 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Mustard oil – 2 tbsp (you can use olive or refined oil)
  9. Salt to taste

How to make Bharwan Bhindi:

  1. Chop the bhindi a little from both the ends. Then slit it from the center length wise, without cutting it completely . It should be intact. Cut all in the same way and keep it aside
  2. Take a small bowl. Add spices – coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, dry mango powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well
  3. Now stuff the bhindi with the masala. Keep it aside
  4. Heat mustard oil in a kadai or a pan. Let it smoke for a minute. Then turn the flame to medium and add a pinch of salt, it helps in removing the mustard oil aroma
  5. Add bhindi. Mix well
  6. Cover and cook for around 15 mins on low flame. Keep stirring in between till bhindi is cooked
  7. Your Bharwan Bhindi is ready. Serve hot with Phulkas, Raita or Daal Chawal.
