Aloo Paneer Curry

Aloo Paneer Curry is a delicious gravy dish, it can relished with rice or phulkas. It is a combination of potatoes and Indian cottage cheese, along with some spices and onions & tomatoes.

Servings: 3-4


  1. Boiled Potato – 2 medium-large (crumbled or chopped)
  2. Paneer – 100 grams (cut in cubes)
  3. Onion – 1 small (finely chopped)
  4. Ginger – 1/2 inch (finely chopped)
  5. Garlic – 2  cloves (finely chopped)
  6. Tomato – 2 medium (blend to a smooth paste)
  7. Green Chilli – 2 (finely chopped)
  8. Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
  9. Red Chilli Powder – 1/4 tsp
  10. Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  11. Garam Masala Powder – 1/4 tsp
  12. Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  13. Chana Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp (optional)
  14. Kasuri Methi – 1 tsp
  15. Coriander Leaves for garnishing
  16. Water – 2 cups or as required (depends on the thickness you want)
  17. Ghee (Clarified Butter) or Oil – 3 tbsp
  18. Salt to taste.

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML

How to make Aloo Paneer Curry:

  1. Heat ghee or oil in a pan or a kadai. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter
  2. Add ginger, garlic and onions. Saute till golden brown
  3. Add tomato paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, chana masala powder and kasuri methi. Mix and cook till oil starts to separate
  4. Add potatoes and salt. Mix and cook for 2-3 mins
  5. Add 2 cups of water and bring it to boil. Now cook for 5-7 mins on med flame, stirring occasionally 
  6. Add paneer and garam masala powder. Mix and cook for a min
  7. Turn off the flame and add coriander leaves. Mix well and your Aloo Paneer Curry is ready!!!
