Tawa Paneer Masala

Tawa Paneer Masala is a semi dry paneer dish (Indian cottage cheese). It is prepared on a tawa or a skillet pan as the name says, incase you do not have a tawa it’s completely ok to prepare it in a regular pan. It is loaded with spices such as pav bhaji masala powder, garam masala powder, carrom seeds, dry mango powder, etc.

  1. Paneer (Indian cottage cheese) – 200 grams (cut in cubes)
  2. Onion –  1 medium-large (diced)
  3. Capsicum – 1 large (diced)
  4. Tomatoes – 2 medium-large (blend to a smooth paste)
  5. Ginger – 1/2 inch (grated or crushed)
  6. Garlic – 2 cloves (grated or crushed)
  7. Green Chilli – 2 (finely chopped)
  8. Carrom Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  9. Pav Bhaji Masala Powder – 1 tsp
  10. Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
  11. Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  12. Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  13. Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  14. Dry Mango Powder – 1/4 tsp
  15. Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves) – 1 tsp
  16. Butter – 2 tbsp 
  17. Oil – 1 tsp 
  18. Salt to taste.

How to make Tawa Paneer Masala:

  1. Heat oil and butter on a tawa or in a pan, add carrom seeds and let it splutter
  2. Add onion, capsicum, ginger and garlic. Saute until tender
  3. Add pav bhaji masala powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder. Cook until fragrant
  4. Add tomato paste and saute until butter separates
  5. Add paneer, garam masala powder, dry mango powder, crushed kasuri methi and salt. Mix and cook for 3-4 mins, your Tawa Paneer is ready & ENJOY!!!
