Desi Burger

Another attempt for a twist. Burger in Indian Style. Turned out well. Hope you enjoy it!!!

Time: Preparation – 5 mins, Cooking – 25 mins, Total – 30 mins

Servings: 2


  1. Buns – 2
  2. Potato – 2 medium (boiled)
  3. Tamarind Chutney – 2 tbsp
  4. Mint Coriander Chutney – 2 tbsp
  5. Onion – 1 small (sliced in circles)
  6. Tomato – 1 small (sliced in circles)
  7. Red Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
  9. Garam Masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  10. Black Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  11. Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
  12. Corn flour – 1 tbsp (you can use gram flour as well)
  13. Bread crumbs – 2 tbsp
  14. Olive oil – 2 tsp (for cooking the potato patties)
  15. Butter – 1 tsp (for toasting the buns)
  16. Water – 1/4 cup (you make the batter)
  17. Salt to taste

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML

How to make Desi Burger:

  1. Mash potatoes in a bowl
  2. Add spices – red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, black pepper powder and salt. Mix well
  3. Make a fine paste
  4. Now make two round patties of the size of your buns in the diameter. Keep it aside
  5. Mix corn flour and water in a bowl. Keep it aside
  6. Place bread crumbs on a flat surface or in a plate
  7. Now dip patty in the corn flour batter and then place it on the bread crumbs.  Cover it with bread crumbs from all the sides
  8. Heat a non stick pan or tawa. Pour a few drops of oil
  9. Place the patties. Cook till crispy
  10. Slip the side and cook till crispy from both the sides
  11. On the same pan or tawa heat butter and toast buns from inside
  12. Spread tamarind chutney and mint coriander chutney on the toasted bun
  13. Now place the patty, then onions and tomatoes
  14. Place the buns on top of each other
  15. Your Desi Burger is ready
  16. Serve it with fries.
