Capsicum Aloo | Bell Pepper Potato

A simple recipe for capsicum and aloo. Enjoy it with dal, rice or phulkas.

  1. Capsicum – 1 medium (finely chopped)
  2. Potato – 2 medium (boiled, peeled and cut into cubes)
  3. Onion – 1 small (finely chopped)
  4. Cumin Seeds (Jeera) – 1 tsp
  5. Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  6. Turmeric Powder – 1/3 tsp
  7. Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  9. Dry Mango Powder (Amchur) – 1/2 tsp
  10. Mustard Oil – 2 tbsp (you can use any other oil as well)
  11. Salt to taste.

How to make Capsicum Aloo:

  1. Heat oil in a kadai or a pan. Let it smoke for a minute. Then turn the flame to medium and add a pinch of salt, it helps in removing the mustard oil aroma
  2. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter
  3. Add onions. Saute for a minute
  4. Add capsicum. Saute till onions are golden brown
  5. Add potatoes and spices – turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well and cook for 4-5 mins
  6. Add dry mango powder and garam masala powder. Mix and cook for a minute
  7. Your Capsicum Aloo is ready. Serve hot with parathas or phulkas.
