Capsicum Aloo

A simple recipe for capsicum and aloo.

Servings: 2-3


  1. Capsicum – 1 big (finely chopped)
  2. Potato – 2 medium size (boiled and cut into cubes)
  3. Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)
  4. Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  5. Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  6. Turmeric powder – 1/3 tsp
  7. Red Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Garam Masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  9. Dry Mango powder (Amchur) – 1/2 tsp
  10. Mustard oil – 1 tbsp (you can use any other oil as well)
  11. Salt to taste

How to make Capsicum Aloo:

  1. Heat oil in a kadai or a pan. Let it smoke for a minute. Then turn the flame to medium and add a pinch of salt, it helps in removing the mustard oil aroma
  2. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter
  3. Add onions. Saute for 2-3 mins on medium flame
  4. Add capsicum. Saute till onions are golden brown
  5. Add potatoes and spices – turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well
  6. Cook for 4-5 mins on medium flame
  7. Add dry mango powder. Cook for a minute
  8. Your Capsicum Aloo is ready
  9. Serve hot with Parathas or Phulkas.
