Aloo Pyaaz Sabji

An easy recipe with aloo. It’s a combination of potatoes and onions.

  1. Potato – 2 medium (chopped)
  2. Onion – 1 medium (sliced)
  3. Green Chilli – 1 (finely chopped)
  4. Coriander Leaves – 1 tbsp
  5. Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
  6. Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
  7. Turmeric Powder – 1/3 tsp
  8. Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
  9. Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  10. Garam Masala Powder – 1/3 tsp
  11. Mustard Oil – 2 tbsp (you can use any other oil as well)
  12. Salt to taste.

How to make Aloo Pyaaz Sabji:

  1. Heat mustard oil in a kadai or a pan. Let it smoke for a minute. Then turn the flame to medium and add a pinch of salt, it helps in removing the mustard oil aroma
  2. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Let it splutter
  3. Add onions and green chillies. Saute till translucent
  4. Add potatoes and spices – turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt. Mix well
  5. Cover and cook on low flame till potatoes are soft
  6. Your Aloo Pyaaz Sabji is ready
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with Phulkas.
