Saatvik Jeera Aloo

Saatvik Jeera Aloo is an easy recipe with minimal spices. You’ll need mainly potatoes, cumin seeds, ground black pepper and rock salt to prepare it. You can have it with curd (plain yogurt), kuttu cheela or pooris on the day of fasting (vrat).

Servings: 2-3


  1. Boiled Potato – 4 medium (peeled and cut into cubes)
  2. Green Chilli – 1 (finely chopped)
  3. Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
  4. Ground Black Pepper – 1/4 tsp
  5. Ghee (Clarified Butter) – 1 tbsp
  6. Coriander Leaves for garnishing
  7. Salt to taste.

How to make Saatvik Jeera Aloo:

  1. Heat ghee in a pan or a kadai. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter
  2. Add green chilli. Saute for a few seconds 
  3. Add potatoes, ground black pepper and salt. Mix and stir fry for 4-5 mins
  4. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Your Saatvik Jeera Aloo is ready.
