“Chocolate Cake”, the name itself is enough to bring a smile on anyone’s face. This cake does not need an introduction or any kind of explanation. It is chocolate and that’s plenty.
Last week it was my husband’s birthday and we decided to bake a chocolaty chocolate cake. Oh yes “We”, he helped me!!! To have the melted chocolate touch in the cake, we added chocolate chips and believe me it was the best part as in each bite we could enjoy the moist chocolate. For decorating it I got the colorful sprinkles and they definitely made the cake look gorgeous. If you plan to bake this cake then go for your choice of decoration or keep it plain and simple.
Below are more images to grasp the moist and detailed look of the cake.
Baking tip: If you’re using ceramic baking pan then pre-heat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit or 180 degrees celsius. I used a metal baking pan.
To make it egg less: 1 egg = 1 tbsp of ground flax seeds + 3 tbsp water. Let it rest for 5 mins before adding.

How to make Chocolate Choco Chip Cake:
- Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees fahrenheit or 165 degrees celsius
- Line a 9 inch round or 8 X 8 square baking pan with parchment paper. Grease the sides and the bottom. Keep aside
- In a small bowl, toss 1/2 cup chocolate chips with 1 tsp of flour. This helps prevent chocolate chips sticking together. Keep aside
- Take a mixing bowl. Add all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix them with a whisk. Keep aside the flour mix
- Take another big mixing bowl. Add egg. Beat very well
- Add oil, milk and vanilla extract and beat them up together with a whisk
- Now switch to a big spoon and stir in the flour mix in portions to the wet ingredients. Stir nicely, no flour should be visible
- Now add in boiling water and gently stir. Batter will be thin
- Gently fold the tossed chocolate chips
- Pour the batter into the greased pan. Bake for 35 to 38 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes, then take it out and let it cool down for another 10-15 mins on the cooling rack
- While cake is cooling, make the icing. Heat a pan on low flame. Add butter, chocolate chips and vanilla extract. Keep stirring until they are fully melted
- Spread over cooled cake and your Chocolate Choco Chip Cake is ready.
- Decorate as desired. Slice and serve.
OMG ! This looks super moist, soft & spongy !!
