Dhaba Style Paneer Tikka Masala

Recently tried Paneer Tikka Masala in Dhaba Style and it turned out so good, relished it with some parathas. It’s an easy recipe with so much flavours!

Ingredients:

For Paneer Tikka:

  1. Paneer (Indian cottage cheese) – 300 grams (cut into 1 inch cubes)
  2. Hung Curd (or Plain Greek Yogurt) – 1/4 cup
  3. Gram Flour – 1 tbsp
  4. Onion – 1 medium (cut into around 1 inch cubes)
  5. Capsicum or Bell Pepper – 1 cup (cut into around 1 inch cubes)
  6. Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
  7. Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  8. Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  9. Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
  10. Dry Mango Powder – 1/2 tsp
  11. Chaat Masala Powder – 1 tsp
  12. Black Salt – 1/4 tsp
  13. Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves) – 1 tsp
  14. Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp
  15. Oil – 1 tbsp 
  16. Ghee – 1 tbsp
  17. Salt to taste.

For Gravy:

  1. Onion – 1 large (finely chopped)
  2. Tomato – 2 large (finely chopped)
  3. Green Chilli – 3-4 (slit)
  4. Garlic – 2 cloves (finely chopped)
  5. Ginger – 1 inch (finely chopped)
  6. Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
  7. Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  8. Coriander Powder – 2 tsp
  9. Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
  10. Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves ) – 2 tsp
  11. Ghee or Oil – 2 tbsp
  12. Water – 1 cup or as needed
  13. Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves to garnish
  14. Salt to taste.

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML.

How to make Paneer Tikka Masala in Dhaba Style:

  1. To prepare paneer tikka, take a mixing bowl and add curd or yogurt, oil, ginger-garlic paste, gram flour, kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, dry mango powder, chaat masala powder, black salt, kasuri methi, lemon juice and salt. Mix well
  2. Add paneer, onion and capsicum. Gently mix until coated well in the marinade. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for up to 2 hours
  3. Heat a pan and add ghee. Once hot add marinated paneer and veggies. Cook until golden brown. Your Paneer Tikka is ready, keep aside
  4. Now for gravy, heat ghee in a pan or a kadai. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter
  5. Add onion, ginger and garlic. Saute until light golden brown
  6. Add kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder and 1 tsp kasuri methi. Saute for a few seconds 
  7. Add tomatoes and cook until ghee starts to separate
  8. Add water, salt and green chillies. Mix and bring it to a boil
  9. Add cooked paneer tikka and mix
  10. Add garam masala powder and 1 tsp kasuri methi. Mix and cook for 3-4 mins, you’ll notice ghee oozing out 
  11. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Your Paneer Tikka Masala in Dhaba Style is ready, enjoy with paratha, naan or tandoori roti.
