Besan Toast Sandwich

A healthy twist to Bread Pakoras, I know bread pakora is love… lol! Recently tried this sandwich and it turned out equally delicious and it is guilt free. Do try!

Time: Preparation – 30 mins,  Cooking – 20, Total – 50 mins.

Servings: makes 4 sandwiches.

Ingredients:

  1. Boiled Potato – 2 medium-large (peeled and grated)
  2. Paneer – 200 grams
  3. Bread (of your choice) – 8 slices
  4. Gram Flour – 1 cup
  5. Green Chilli – 2 (finely chopped)
  6. Coriander Powder – 2 tsp
  7. Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
  8. Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  9. Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
  10. Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  11. Dry Mango Powder – 1/2 tsp
  12. Carom Seeds – 1/4 tsp
  13. Water – 3/4 cup
  14. Coriander Leaves as needed (finely chopped)
  15. Butter or Oil to toast 
  16. Salt to taste.
  17. Green Chutney as needed (recipe here)
  18. Tamarind Chutney to serve (recipe here).

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML.

How to make Besan Toast Sandwich:

  1. Take a mixing bowl and add grated potato, ginger, green chilli, coriander leaves, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala powder, 1/2 tsp dry mango powder & salt. Mix and make a smooth paste. Stuffing is ready, keep aside
  2. Take a mixing bowl and add gram flour, coriander leaves, carom seeds, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, turmeric powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 garam masala powder, 1/2 cumin powder & salt. Mix with a whisk or a spoon and add water in portions to make a medium consistency batter, let it rest for 10 mins
  3. Cut paneer into thin slices, dividing equally for all four sandwiches. Keep aside
  4. Meanwhile heat a pan or a tawa, spread a few drops of oil
  5. Take a bread slice and dip it in the batter, should be covered from all the sides. Place it on the pan and cook from both the sides until light golden. Your Besan Toast is ready, keep aside
  6. Take a bread toast, spread some green chutney & place the paneer slice, take another bread slice and spread potato stuffing, finally place potato stuffing slice on the paneer one and make a sandwich. Keep aside
  7. Meanwhile heat a sandwich maker. Spread some butter and place the sandwich, toast from both the sides with butter until crisp
  8. Your Besan Toast Sandwich is ready, cut and serve with some Green Chutney and Tamarind Chutney. Enjoy!!!
