Paneer Besan Cheela

A healthy and delicious breakfast or snack recipe.

Servings: makes 4 cheelas

Time: Preparation – 25 Mins, Cooking –  15 Mins, Total – 40 Mins.

Ingredients:

  1. Gram Flour – 1 cup
  2. Onion – 1/4 cup (finely chopped)
  3. Tomato – 1/4 cup (finely chopped)
  4. Green Chili – 1 (finely chopped)
  5. Paneer – 1/2 cup (crumbled)
  6. Carom Seeds –  1/4 tsp
  7. Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  8. Red Chili Powder – 1/4 tsp
  9. Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  10. Garam Masala Powder – 1/4 tsp
  11. Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp
  12. Water – 1 cup
  13. Coriander Leaves – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  14. Oil for cooking the cheelas
  15. Salt to taste.

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML

How to make Paneer Besan Cheela:

  1. Take a mixing bowl, add besan and 1/2 cup water. Whisk until smooth
  2. Add another 1/4 to 1/2 cup water, depending on the quality of the besan, to make a medium consistency batter
  3. Add onions, tomatoes, green chilis, coriander leaves, carom seeds, coriander powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder & salt. Mix till you get a smooth consistency, let it rest for 15 mins
  4. Heat a non stick pan or tawa and spread a few drops of oil, pour a ladle full of batter in the centre and spread out to form a circle. Sprinkle some paneer and pour a few drops of oil
  5. Cook till the cheela turns golden then flip, similarly do the other side
  6. Your Paneer Besan Cheela is ready. Serve with mint-coriander chutney, imli chutney or ketchup.
