Paneer Stuffed Besan Cheela

Besan Cheela is always the favorite. It is a yummy option for breakfast or evening snack.

  1. Besan (Gram Flour) – 1 cup
  2. Onion – 1 medium (grated or finely chopped)
  3. Tomato – 1 large (blend to a smooth paste)
  4. Green Chilli – 2 (finely chopped)
  5. Paneer – 1/2 cup (grated or crumbled)
  6. Carom Seeds (Ajwain) –  1/2 tsp
  7. Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  8. Red Chilli Powder – 1/3 tsp
  9. Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  10. Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp
  11. Water – 3/4 cup water
  12. Coriander Leaves – about 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  13. Oil – for shallow frying the cheelas
  14. Salt to taste.

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML

How to make Paneer Stuffed Besan Cheela:

  1. Take a mixing bowl and add all the ingredients – besan, onion, tomato paste, green chilli, coriander leaves, carom seeds, coriander powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder and salt. Mix well
  2. Add 1/2 cup water. Start mixing it in one direction with a spoon or a whisk. Mix it till you get a smooth consistency batter
  3. Add 1/4 cup more water or as required. It depends on the quality of the besan
  4. Heat non stick pan or tawa. Spread a few drops of oil
  5. Pour a ladle full of batter in the center and spread out to form a circle
  6. Sprinkle some paneer. Pour a few drops of oil
  7. Cook till the cheela turns light golden then flip the side. Cook in similar way
  8. Your Paneer Stuffed Besan Cheela is ready. Serve hot with mint-coriander chutney or imli chutney or ketchup.
