Sooji Halwa

One of the most easiest dessert to prepare for any occasion.

Time: Preparation – 5 mins, Cooking – 10 mins, Total – 15 mins

Servings: 3-4


  1. Sooji (Semolina or Rava) – 1 cup
  2. Ghee – 3 tbsp
  3. Sugar – 1 cup
  4. Almonds – 5
  5. Cashews – 5
  6. Raisins – 12
  7. Cardamom (Elaichi) – 2
  8. Water – 4 cups

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML

How to make Sooji Halwa:

  1. Heat a pan or a kadai
  2. Add sooji and ghee. Roast it on medium-low flame. Keep sautéing till ghee starts to separate. Sooji should not turn brown. It’ll take around 6-7 mins
  3. At the same time add water and sugar in a pan. Bring it to boil
  4. Also crush the almonds, cashew and cardamom in a mortar-pestle. Remove the cardamom skin. Soak the raisins in warm water for 5 mins
  5. Once sooji is roasted, add the sugar and water solution to it. Stir well
  6. Add crushed almonds, cashews and cardamom. Mix well
  7. Add soaked raisins. Mix well
  8. Keep sautéing the mix. Water will start absorbing
  9. Once water is absorbed you will also notice ghee on the sides. Turn off the flame
  10. Your Sooji Halwa is ready. Serve hot!!!
