Bread Roll

Now this one is for the childhood memories. My favorite Sunday Breakfast… Bread Rolls!!! One more reason for the love of Sunday… Delicious snack and easy to make.

Course: Breakfast or Snack

Cuisine: North Indian

Time: Preparation – 10 mins, Cooking – 20 mins, Total – 30 mins

Servings: 2-3

Ingredients:

  1. Potato – 3 medium size (boiled and mashed)
  2. Bread – 6 slices (sides cut)
  3. Coriander Leaves – 2 tbsp
  4. Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  5. Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  6. Red Chilli powder – 1/3 tsp
  7. Garam Masala powder – 1/3 tsp
  8. Black Pepper powder – 1/3 tsp
  9. Dry Mango powder – 1/3 tsp
  10. Water – 1 cup (for dipping the bread)
  11. Oil – for cooking the potatoes and deep-frying the bread rolls
  12. Salt to taste

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML

How to make Bread Rolls:

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan
  2. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter
  3. Add mashed potatoes. Mix well
  4. Add spices – coriander powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, garam masala powder and salt. Mix well
  5. Cook for 3-4 mins. Keep sauteing
  6. Add dry mango powder. Mix well. Cook for a minute
  7. Turn off the flame and add coriander leaves. Mix well
  8. Keep aside the mix and let it cool down
  9. Take water in a plate, so that it’s easy to dip the bread.
  10. Dip the bread and squeeze the excess water. It should be moist enough to roll
  11. Place the around 1-1 1/2 tbsp potato mix in the center and roll the bread. There should not be any open edge. It should be covered properly with the bread from all the sides
  12. Make all the bread rolls in similar way and keep them aside
  13. Heat oil in a pan or a kadai and drop bread rolls
  14. Deep fry from all the sides till crispy and brown. Drain on a kitchen paper towel
  15. Your Bread Rolls are ready. Serve hot with Chutney or Ketchup.
