Missi Roti

Missi Roti is another famous from the Indian bread basket. It is prepared with gram flour, whole wheat flour and a few spices. It can relished with any gravy of your choice.

Servings: 2


  1. Gram Flour – 1/2 cup
  2. Whole Wheat Flour – 1/2 cup
  3. Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  4. Carrom Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  5. Coriander Seeds – 1 tsp
  6. Black Peppercorns – 5-6 (optional)
  7. Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  8. Oil – 1 tbsp
  9. Water for kneading the dough
  10. Coriander Leaves as required
  11. Ghee (Clarified Butter) – for serving
  12. Salt to taste.

PS: 1 Cup = 250 ML.

How to make Missi Roti:

  1. Take a grinding jar. Add coriander seeds, carrom seeds, cumin seeds and black pepper seeds. Grind coarsely, do not make a powder. Keep aside
  2. Take a bowl. Add gram flour, wheat flour, prepared ground spices, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, oil and salt. Mix
  3. Add water in portions and start kneading the dough. Make a stiff dough. Keep aside for 20 mins
  4. Knead the dough again and make equal sized balls
  5. Dust the ball with wheat flour and roll to make a medium thick roti
  6. Meanwhile heat a tawa or a pan. Place the roti and cook from both the sides till you get a few brown spots
  7. Remove it from tawa with the help of tongs and place it directly over the flame. Cook from both the sides by flipping with the tongs
  8. Remove it from the flame and grease it with ghee. Your Missi Roti is ready. Serve hot with your favorite curry.
